To have something done
Let´s have a look at the following sentences, what is the difference in meaning between them?
1. I have painted the roof (I painted it myself)
2. I have had the roof painted (I asked someone to do it)
We use have something done when someone else does something for you: repair your car, cut your hair, paint your room…
have + noun + past participle
I had my hair cut last week
I am going to have my hair cut next Friday
I always have my hair cut here
Does this help? We hope so!
